Project Summary
The Fid Kids, Fit Cities planning project is intended to improve collaboration among organizations working to decrease overweight, obesity, and physical inactivity among school-age children, their families, and school personnel in three communities in Wisconsin. This notice announces the availability of approximately $6,500 per community to be used for planning and the adoption of strategies aimed at increasing physical activity in school and community settings.

Program Impact
The immediate purpose of this initiative is to improve connectivity and collaboration between organizations working to increase physical activity and decrease overweight and obesity in Wisconsin. A more distal purpose is to increase physical activity levels and to contribute to a reduction in overweight and obesity. The primary target populations for this project are school-aged children in grades K-6, their families, and school personnel in three pilot communities. Finally, the funding organization, its advisors and academic partner seek to fund processes that are well-documented and may be replicated in other communities.

Eligibility
Eligible applicants include community- and/or school-based coalitions. Preference will be given to those communities in which an active local Physical Activity and Nutrition Coalition has been formed.
