The Wisconsin Sports Development Corporation is excited to announce that three new sports have been added to the lineup for the American Family Insurance Badger State Summer Games. New for the 2007 Games are dodgeball, 7-on-7 adult soccer and sand volleyball. "We're always looking for ways to make the Games bigger and better," stated Tim Allen, Marketing Director for the American Family Insurance Badger State Games. "Adding these three new, fast paced sports will allow us to include even more people in the Games. Having a great venue like the Keva Sports Center makes it easier to stage these events all at one location." All three sports will take place June 15th through the 17th at Keva Sports Center in Middleton. "Many of us remember playing dodgeball back in grade school but haven't played since," noted Allen. "However, it is a very fast growing sport around the state and country and we wanted to offer this great opportunity to everyone in Wisconsin. Maybe it will inspire someone to come out and relive their childhood a little bit." "Our thought on adding 7-on-7 soccer is that by having smaller-sided games there would be more teams interested in playing since they only need to have 7 to 10 people per team," Allen said. "It's tough trying to gather enough adults to field full-sized teams during the summer. This should make it a little bit easier for everyone to get in the Games." "Sand volleyball has been a staple of outdoor sports in the state each summer for many years," observed Allen. "It just made sense to add the sport to the Games, especially since we have a great venue to stage the competition." The American Family Insurance Badger State Summer Games take place June 15th through the 24th in Madison and surrounding Dane County.
