Ron Vincent has been named president of the Wisconsin Sports Development Corporation. The WSDC, formed in 1999, is a nonprofit sports management organization that owns the Badger State Games, health education programs and the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame. It is the host organization for the Ironman Wisconsin Triathlon and ESPN's Great Outdoor Games.

"Ron has the right combination of skills and experience we believe are needed to lead this growing organization to greater success," said Dave Phillips, Chairman of the WSDC board of directors.

Vincent comes to the WSDC from Vincent Commodities, a successful dairy products trading company based in Middleton, which he founded in 1989 and has since managed. He will transfer management and continue peripheral involvement in his company as its board chair.

Vincent holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Communications Arts. He is a former Hockey player, participated in two NCAA tournaments and is a UW Hockey Hall of Fame inductee. He has remained active in collegiate athletics as president of the National W Club, an alumni association of UW-Madison letter winners.

"Selling Wisconsin as a sports destination is something you can be passionate about. I've participated in the Badger State Games since it began in 1985 and I view this position as a way to give back to the city and the state that has given me so much," said Vincent.

Vincent replaces Paul Costanzo, who held the position since June 2001 and resigned in November 2003.

Vincent begins his tenure just as the second weekend Badger State Winter Games takes place in Wausau on Feb 6-8. Vincent will speak Friday, Feb. 6 at Wausau's Marathon Park as part of the Opening Ceremony and introduce Governor Jim Doyle.

The Badger State Winter Games first weekend, which hosted youth hockey and bowling tournaments, ended successfully Sunday night. Results for those tournaments are online at www.SportsInWisconsin.com. The Games continue next weekend with a full schedule of events.
